Networking :

 

Networking is a process in which a group of interconnected computer that shares resources and information. For example two person seating in same building but at different floor can share there resources through network.

Advantages of networking :-

   Networks allow efficient management of resources.
   Networks help keep information reliable and up to data.
   Networks help speed up data sharing.

   Services like electronic-mail being offered by computer network allow much more efficient communication among individuals.

Networks can be configured in the following basics topologies.

   Bus :- 
All computers are connected with single cable with a terminator on each end.
   Star :-  
  All computers are connected to a central device, typically a hub or switch.
   Ring :-
  All computers or network devices are attached directly to each other in a ring fashion.

Type of networks :-

   LAN (Local Area Network)
   WAN (Wide Area Network)
   MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
  A MAN network that covers an entire city but uses LAN technology. Cable television networks are example of MAN distributing television signal.

The one more important thing in networking is PROTOCOL.

Component of network :-

   Servers :-
Computers that provides shared resources to network users.
   Clients :-
Computers that access shared network resources provided by a server.
   Media :-
The way in which the computers are connected.
   Resources :-
Files, Printers or other items to be used by network users.
