Networking is a process in which a group of interconnected computer that shares resources and information. For example two person seating in same building but at different floor can share there resources through network. |

Networks can be configured in the following basics topologies. |

| All computers are connected with single cable with a terminator on each end. | |
| All computers are connected to a central device, typically a hub or switch. | |
| All computers or network devices are attached directly to each other in a ring fashion. | |

Type of networks :- |
|
| A MAN network that covers an entire city but uses LAN technology. Cable television networks are example of MAN distributing television signal. | |

The one more important thing in networking is PROTOCOL. |

| Computers that provides shared resources to network users. | |
| Computers that access shared network resources provided by a server. | |
| The way in which the computers are connected. | |
| Files, Printers or other items to be used by network users. | |
