LAN (Local Area Network) :

A group of computers interconnected with in a building or campus. For example LAN may consist of computer located on a single floor of a building or it might link all the computers in small company.

Local Area Network

In local area network we can use two type of cables :
   First one is coaxial cable by using BNC connector.

   Second one is UTP wire or Unshielded twisted pair. It is more batter cable than coaxial. It is connected to computer by RJ45. 

The main hardware part of network is LAN card which we have to placed on motherboard.

The one more type of the LAN is peer to peer networks.
In a peer to peer network there are non dedicated servers. All the computers are equal and therefore are termed as peers. Each computer function as client and server.
